The story behind Blackwave XL

The composition is inspired by the raw energy and continuous movement of the ocean, interpreted through an abstract and contemporary approach.

Across the canvas, sculpted plaster forms rise and fall like waves frozen in motion. Each section is shaped individually by hand, creating an irregular surface where ridges, cavities and organic textures give the artwork its distinctive character.

Deep black and charcoal tones reinforce the shadows created by the relief, while layers of acrylic and spray paint bring subtle variations across the surface.

Resin is then applied using a water-based technique, allowing fluid patterns and glossy areas to develop naturally across the composition. These reflective sections catch the light differently depending on the time of day and viewing angle, creating the impression of water moving across a dark surface.

The result is an artwork that exists somewhere between painting and sculpture. Its appearance changes as light travels across the relief, revealing new textures, reflections and areas of depth.
